MAYFLY NIGHT
A Full-Length Play in Two Acts
With Music

by Joe Praml

--An Irish-American family drama; four actors; one set; world premiere.
--Charlie is a life-long City Councilman, beloved by his constituents, but his time has passed and he is caught in financial irregularities.
--His daughter Bobbie, a public defender, comes back home to support her father.  She can’t face her estranged returning husband Tom alone.
--Tom is conflicted for choosing Bobbie over the priesthood.
--Katherine, grew up in Ireland, mystical, of the earth, secretive about her past, wants to protect her daughter Bobbie from Tom.
--Who is left standing in this story where characters are driven by their past, and use songs to avoid reality? Mayfly Night is a sophisticated piece both in its form and the complex themes it addresses.
